Ambulance Ride-Along Information

UEMSA and two local ambulance companies, AmeriCare Ambulance Service and American Medical Response have partnered to allow EMR students the opportunity to gain first hand experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Students will ride on a Basic Life Support (BLS) unit responding to 911 emergencies and other medical calls for a full 12-13 hour shift. Students will be expected to obtain patient vitals, history, and assist with assessments and treatment. Ride-alongs can be used as patient care hours or volunteer hours.

  • Must currently be enrolled in or have successfully completed UEMSA's EMR course.
  • Have successfully passed the AHA CPR written and practical tests.
  • 17 years of age or older.

Instruction on how to properly schedule rides will be detailed in class. Please do not call the companies directly to schedule rides without the required information provided during class.

Unauthorized rides or rides without express consent by UEMSA will result in dismissal from the course without refund

and/or prosecution for impersonation of a medical professional per Florida state and Federal statutes.
